Volcanic red, Snaefellsnes
The Snaefellsnes peninsula in Iceland is one of my favourite areas to explore. Geologically speaking, it is considered relatively young, much of its landscape dating from the last ice age. The lava fields, dotted with iron red conical peaks form an impossible landscape; you could be forgiven for thinking you were on another planet.
