The dunes of Sossusvlei

​Looking towards the dunes of Sossusvlei from the dunes by Deadvlei. The rich red colour of these dunes is caused by the high level of oxidised iron in the sand, with the older dunes apparently being more intense in colour. If you look very carefully you may just be able to see a couple of tiny figures towards the bottom of the central dune ridge.
